Global manufacturer and wholesaler Bagatelle International Inc. reached an agreement on June 19th, 2019 to acquire AVEC LES FILLES: a contemporary lifestyle brand created by Joyce Azria. An authority in both design and manufacturing, Bagatelle saw an opportunity to breathe new life into the trend-driven brand known for its retro/street aesthetic.

Avec Les Filles, which translates to “With The Girls”, is a modern lifestyle brand that pairs international runway trends with street style sensibility and a hint of retro chic. Avec Les Filles was created as a millennial-focused brand with one mission: “To cut through the noise and provide positive inspiration to all women.

Founded in 1968, privately-held Bagatelle has evolved from its beginnings as a leather manufacturer into a full-fledged global wholesaler by designing and manufacturing. After 50 years in business, Bagatelle designs and manufactures its own branded collections while operating a full-service private label division. Having doubled Avec Les Filles’ outerwear business for three consecutive years, sights are set on diversifying product categories through direct manufacturing—while licensing out key classifications.

Retailers carrying Bagatelle’s Avec Les Filles outerwear collection—including Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, Shopbop, and Canada’s Hudson Bay—can’t seem to get enough of it. “When we started designing and showing AVEC, we knew there was something special,” said Bagatelle’s Executive Vice President Jamie Litvack. “We got immediate buyer feedback that this was filling a white space in retail and we took that momentum to continue to grow the brand.”

Led by Creative Directors Sofia Wahlberg and Bradley Mounce, the brand strives to evoke retro sensibilities and playful sophistication. The product will bridge the gap between Gen Z, millennials, and even their moms. AVEC LES FILLES’s DNA is comprised of three style pillars that create the “with the girls” vibe, embracing an evolved, empowered demographic of women who define the Instagram generation. Avec’s customer is both the girl who sets the trends and the one who embraces them. Stylists and stars like Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie are often seen wearing and tagging the brand.

Bagatelle is slated to celebrate the acquisition with an ecommerce website launch in August and a SoHo pop-up shop stocked with its entire lifestyle outerwear collection from October through the end of 2019. “The AVEC girl is cool, city-wise, and playfully sophisticated. She loves fashion but wants to see value and quality in everything she buys”, explains Litvack. “We’re planning a lot of new and exciting things for the brand.
